I am an ITIN holder

If you live in D.C. but don't have a Social Security Number, you may still be eligible for a tax credit worth up to $285.

To check if you qualify, you'll need an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number or ITIN.

An ITIN is a tax processing number issued by the Internal Revenue Service for individuals who are not eligible to obtain a Social Security Number.

To apply for an ITIN, you’ll need to:

  • Fill out a W-7

  • Provide your federal income tax return, and; Provide your valid original passport or documents proving both identity and foreign nationality status.

Your information will only be used by the IRS and WILL NOT be shared with any other government organizations; such as Homeland Security.

Getting your ITIN is not just about taxes, it opens doors to all kinds of opportunities and benefits. Having an ITIN enables you to open a personal bank account, begin the process of building a positive credit history, and potentially access financial aid opportunities for your kids.

Apply by mail or in person with an IRS-authorized Certifying Acceptance Agent or at an IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center.

Secure your ITIN today and unlock opportunities that lead to a thriving future.
